07 Nov Ballet on Ice: The Nutcracker
The amazing Imperial Ice Stars will be performing their interpretation of E. T. A. Hoffmann’s The Nutcracker on ice. The tale follows a little girl named Maria whose love gives life to her nutcracker doll, and together they go on a fantastical adventure featuring the Sugar Plum Fairy, the enchanted Prince and the Mouse King.
This classic, published in 1847 by the German author E. T. A. Hoffmann, was adapted by the French writer Alexandre Dumas 30 years later. It’s from his adaption that the Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchakovsky and choreographer Lev Ivanov created the famous ballet of The Nutcracker.
Ice versions of classic ballets are amazing not only because they capture the beauty of the original ballet but they add a lot of grace and spectacle into the show.
