The Egg Band

Let’s play a game. See if you can complete the lyrics for the following songs:

  1. The wheels on the bus go…
  2. Old Mc Donald had a farm…
  3. Daddy finger, daddy finger, where are you…
  4. The itsy, bitsy spider climbed up the water spout…

Chances are, you found that game very easy to win. Even if you didn’t get the whole song, you certainly knew the chorus. Nursery rhymes are not only fun to sing along to, especially for children, but they might just teach us a thing or two. I still sing the ABC song in my head when I sort things alphabetically.

Passing these helpful earworms to your children is a worthwhile tradition. New friends can share familiar songs, breaking the ice and bridging divides. It might also have them appreciating music and even inspire them to learn an instrument.

Finding good versions of these classic songs can, unfortunately, be challenging. The list of terribly sung and animated covers on YouTube is endless.

Luckily, The Egg Band can lend a helping hand. Every episode is dedicated to a timeless children’s song. Their quirky and colourful animated characters encourage viewers to dance and sing along. And, thanks to the show’s episodic nature, your kids won’t repeat the same song 60 times, which is a plus. Catch it daily on Baby TV, along with a bunch of other fun and educational shows to keep them out of trouble.
