26 May Die Wolfe faces the unimaginable – relegation
Just two seasons ago things were great at the Volkswagen Arena. Wolfsburg were brilliant as they finished second on the log.
Things have changed now. A season that saw them lose the influential Julian Draxler to Paris Saint Germain has them in a position nobody would have thought possible in 2015. They are playing in the relegation play-off.
Die Wolfe face Eintracht Braunshweig over two leagues with everything to play for.
The first leg will be on Thursday, May 25, at 20:30 on channel 245 (World Football). The second leg will be on Monday, May 29, also on World Football.
Defeat for Wolfsburg will see the 2009 purchase valacyclovir Bundesliga champions move to a league they have not been in since 1997. Given how they have often qualified for European competitions over the last few years, this will be a bitter pill to swallow for their fans.
The mission is simple: beat Braunshweig over two legs and retain top flight status.
Braunshweig came third in the second tier league of German football. They played in the top league in the 2012/2013 season only to be relegated again.
Now they have a chance of returning to top flight football.
Can they make the comeback? Or will they be playing in the second tier next season?
