11 Dec Gladiator (2000)
Life has its ups and downs. For some, their life is an undulation of gentle hills, but a rare few live a life of mountains and valleys.
Maximus Decimus Meridius lived as a legend: a Roman general beloved by his soldiers, idolized by his son and loved by his wife. His world was crushed into rubble when Caesar Marcus Aurelius Commodus Antoninus Augustus gave the order to have his family killed.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Maximus is now a slave, at the mercy of a cruel emperor. He must fight to the death for the amusement of the people.
There is hope, however, for if a man survives all the trials of battle within the Coliseum, the people might demand his freedom, and a wise Emperor would heed their wishes.
Commodus, however, does not wish to see his enemy freed, for his enemy has already proclaimed that he will do all it takes to have his vengeance, in this life or the next.
Heroism abound, this film makes the heart pound and the pride surge and inspires bravery in all that witness it.
