05 Jun Scotland needs result against England
“As we sit here just now I am thinking about victory – but not getting beat keeps us in it!”
These are the words of Scotland coach Gordon Strachan ahead of the all-important FIFA World Cup Qualifier clash against rivals England on Saturday, June 10.
Scotland host their neighbours and know that defeat would almost kill their chances of playing in next year’s World Cup.
The match will be live and exclusive on channel 245 (World Football) on Saturday, June 10, at 18:00.
The Scots are currently fourth in group F of the European qualifiers and will also need results in other matches to go their way. They have seven points after five matches. They have already lost to England and Slovakia.
Their opponents have been brilliant in the qualifiers as they lead the group with 13 points from five matches. They have only dropped points in a draw against third-placed Slovenia.
The odds are stacked against Strachan’s side but they will be confident following a 1-0 win over Slovenia in March.
They will need to put on a similar performance against an England team that is filled with talent. The likes of Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling and Dele Alli can be more than a handful for any team.
Can Scotland pull off an upset over the old enemy? Or will England maintain their charge towards Russia 2018?
Find out on Saturday, June 10, at 18:00 when the two sides collide on channel 245.
