04 May The Incredible Dr Pol (S9)
Dr Jan Pol is a world-famous veterinarian veteran. Since he helped deliver a litter of piglets on his family’s farm at the age of 12, he knew that he wanted to spend the rest of his life helping animals. His mantra states:
“I’m Dr Pol. I believe that animals make us better humans, and it’s my mission to help any animal in need – big or small.”
After graduating from the prestigious Utrecht University Veterinary program in 1970 and working ten years for a local veterinary clinic, he started his own humble practice out of his garage with the help of his wife. Dr Pol’s approach to veterinary medicine is affordable, practical and down-to-earth, an approach he actively advocates. This approach was greatly appreciated in rural Michigan and garnered him a lot of local support.
His approach wasn’t all that made Mr Pol a famous man, for he is able to treat basically any animal. Though specializing in large farm animals he doesn’t shy away from family pets or more exotic animals like camels. He’s also a very hard worker, routinely putting in 14-hour workdays and travelling all across Michigan in his mission to ensure that family farms continue to exist now and into the future.
